The ladies of Krave, an up and coming female R&B group, are gearing up for world domination. Their first single “Up and Down” featuring Akon, Nelly, and Twista is already generating buzz and based on the tracks I heard including “Up and Down” and “Girls Go Crazy” I would describe their music as sexy, booty shaking, R&B, Pop. When asked what they would classify their music as Shan Q laughed and said, “That’s what it is! Booty shaking, R&B-Pop. [Some] have described it as ghetto pop anybody from the hood, urban area from anyone to overseas then their neighborhood could relate to it so its world wide mixed with relatable music.”

Not only does Akon appear on their current single but he’s also taken them under his wing and is opening doors for them, “It’s an honor,” explains Jazz “he’s done so much for us given us songs, great advice and has been hands on with us just as DeVyne [Stephens] has, we actually met Akon thru DeVyne.” The Atlanta music executive paired the group up with Akon and the rest is as they say history. “It’s really crazy,” Jazz continues, “cause you would think somebody with such accomplishments would be kind of standoffish but he’s really open, he’s honest and he loves our vibe and is really supportive of us. We actually just did a show with him here in Atlanta for a local radio station and he was really supportive of our Krave movement we have going on.”

The ladies admitted, “It’s never easy [winning over a crowd]. You’re [usually] nervous before you go onstage. Once you go onstage [if] the crowd sees you’re having fun and we just let go, let our hair down and eventually the crowd would join us. We [win them over] just being ourselves and involving the crowd. It’s very important for us to interact [with them] and entertain.”

Chanel recalls the best piece of advice Akon has given them, “Be yourself and just do you. He’s big on letting your creativity out and not holding back because as artists that’s what we’re suppose to do, it’s a world of creativity.” He also encourages the ladies to love themselves, “be who you are, if you want to do [something] then do it.”

The finishing touches are currently being put on their debut album which the ladies say will most likely be self-titled, “When people see [the word] Krave, they [will] know it’s our CD and not anyone else’s,” explained Chanel. “We should be releasing the album within the next couple of months. We’re pretty much done; we’re constantly recording because music is constantly changing. We have a lot of features. Every track is relatable we talk about all types of situations. We’ve put our hearts and souls into it; this is our very first album. We’re extremely excited about it. We got a chance to write and work with a lot of different artists.”

For the Georgia trio it goes beyond music they are establishing themselves as a brand early on. It’s something they strongly believe will give them staying power in the industry, “To us Krave is a brand. So if we start doing movies or come up with a hair line, make up line Krave will forever be Krave. We want Krave to be versatile and accessible to all,” explained Shan Q. Also respect goes a long way, “the most important thing to us is respect and to respect each other. Our name means desire but to us it means respect and positive energy so we’ll always respect each other and no matter what we have each other’s backs. Krave is forever, we’re standing here and we’re standing tall.”
