The CMJ Film Festival got underway with an intimate screening of the ensemble comedy “Circus Maximus” the tale of an established screenwriter who in the course of a weekend must pen a screenplay in order to meet industry deadlines.

The film stars Mario Cantone, Kevin Corrigan, Julian McCullough, Rachel Feinstein, Joe Gannascoli and Howard Stern Show radio personality Sal “the stockbroker” Governale.

The film’s present action is propelled by the protagonist’s movie characters coming to life and propelling their own storylines. The film’s writer and director Tommy J. La Sorsa briefly introduced the film stating, “Enjoy the show, the more you drink, the better the film looks and sounds.” All joking aside the film is a laugh out loud filthy, raunchy, joy ride from start to finish.

La Sorsa hung around after the screening mingling with attendees and answering questions. He was humbled by the warm reception and asked people what their favorite part of the film was. The filmmaker first achieved success with his first film, the cult-classic-comedy “All Saints Day” and now with his new venture “Circus Maximus” he is well on his way to reaching mainstream success.
