Kevin Smith’s “Red State” Arrives on VOD

After a successful one-week Academy qualifying run at the New Beverly in Los Angeles,  following  Smith’s SOLD OUT “Red State Tour” (in which the filmmaker conducted Q & As after the screenings), “Red State” makes its way to viewer’s homes, computers and/or mobile devices via Video-On-Demand. For only $9.99 you’ll get a 24-hour window to view Smith’s latest and greatest film to date in which a trio of young men cross state lines in search of a one-night stand with an older woman.

The teenage boys are lured into Cooper’s Dell, home of the Five Points Trinity Church and are abducted by the fanatical fundamentalists who run it. The film is a fast-paced thrill ride full of guns, blood and talks of scripture.

The film is anchored by stellar performances by John Goodman, Melissa Leo and Michael Parks. The entire cast is believable and equally terrifying as the gun-toting, Jesus loving family who will stop at nothing to get their convoluted message across.

The film should silence critics who’ve implied Smith is a one-note director. “Red State” not only proves that Smith is capable of many things like writing great dialogue and an equally entertaining story but also demonstrates he can master the art of suspense.
