New Music Tuesday (Week of May 15th, 2012)

The Used, “Vulnerable”

Utah rockers The Used are back with their fifth album, “Vulnerable.” The album kicks off with the appropriately titled track; “I Come Alive” the tune seeps into the listener’s subconscious and rocks you from the inside. The album features a nice blend of their signature fast-paced, hard-hitting tunes and angst driven ballads. Overall the album is catchy and compliments their past albums well. Stand out tacks include, “Kiss It Goodbye,” “Getting Over You” and “I Come Alive”

Dee Snider, “Dee Does Broadway”

Rocker Dee Snider of Twisted Sister fame takes on Broadway show tunes and spins them on their head. Broadway classics like “Cabaret,” “Whatever Lola Wants (Lola Gets),” and “Luck Be A Lady Tonight” receive the rock star treatment as his signature growl breathes new life into the long standing Broadway tradition. The album features Special Performances/Collaborations With Patti LuPone, Bebe Neuwirth, Cyndi Lauper, Clay Aiken, Stars Of The Broadway Musical Priscilla Queen Of The Desert and more. As Dee Snider has said, “It may not be metal…but it definitely rocks!”

B. Hamilton, “Everything I Own Is Broken” (June 26th)

B. Hamilton’s “Everything I Own Is Broken” features blaring guitars and raw vocals reminiscent of old school rock n roll. The album marries blues, as featured in the track “Miss Carolina,” with guitar-driven classic rock sounding tunes best displayed in “Turn Out the Lights.” Lead off track, “Me and Margaret Counting Countdowns,” sets the tone for a rockin’ good time. Standout tracks include, “Miss Carolina,” “Gold Tooth,” and “Turn Out the Lights.”

Xavier Rudd, “Spirit Bird” (June 5th)

Australian singer-songwriter Xavier Rudd is ready to take off with the upcoming June 5th release of “Spirit Bird.” The album experiments with indigenous sounds, unique rhythms and melodies that blend beautifully with his laid back approach and stripped down vocals. Stand out tracks include: “Spirit Bird,” “Follow The Sun” and “Comfortable In My Skin.”
