As of last night, the American women’s basketball team has not lost a single Olympic game, totaling 59 straight wins. There is no denying that the WNBA comprises the most outstanding female athletes, and the combination of star players from the league of current WNBA stars has made Team USA unstoppable.

Team USA played against Nigeria with a strong physical approach. They continuously switched players to keep the Nigerian women’s team on their toes. Each player on Team USA had a chance to contribute to the 88-74 win. A’ja Wilson from the Las Vegas Aces and Breanna Stewart from the New York Liberty proved to be a powerful combination. Stewart scored 13 points, along with five rebounds and three assists. Wilson achieved her third double-double in Paris with 20 points and 11 rebounds, marking her fourth Olympic double-double — the most ever recorded by a US woman. Three-time WNBA All-Star Jackie Young also shined. Her toughness proved to be what Team USA needed to keep Team Nigeria at bay, scoring 15 points and three rebounds.

Next up is the quest for gold, their next game takes place on Friday as they face Australia.
