Latest Update: After this post went live, Billboard reported that Cardi B’s “Am I The Drama?” is officially certified platinum in the US after selling 1 million units hours after its release. This now makes her the first female artist in history to achieve this milestone.
How Cardi B’s in-person appearances in support of her new album is reminiscent of the late 90s and 00s marketing campaigns
Cardi B has a new album, “Am I The Drama?” It dropped September 19th but you probably already knew that. Cardi B has been dominating the headlines as of late; whether it’s regarding court drama (sparking hilarious memes) or simply “pressing the flesh” as they said in the 1990s (TRL era) with impromptu public appearances attracting hundreds of unsuspecting fans that shut down traffic.

She danced on top of a car in an upper Manhattan neighborhood, closing down the streets. As she danced above the crowd, she proudly waved a giant Dominican flag that was handed over to her by a spectator. She was all smiles, but in the background, you could hear murmurs speculating whether or not she was pregnant, a rumor she confirmed exclusively to Gale King in a pre-taped interview that aired days later.
Perhaps the cleverest marketing campaign was the limited edition version of the physical copy, featuring her now infamous side-eye expression during her multiple days of testimony and varying hairstyles from day to day. This personable marketing strategy is a much-needed reprieve from the customary stiff media interviews with people unfamiliar with the artist beyond the headlines, and little emphasis is made on promoting the actual music.
The GRAMMY award-winning rapper also announced her upcoming 2026 headlining tour, “Little Miss Drama,” set to begin in February, and isn’t planning on letting the birth of her fourth child slow her down.
“… After this album run, it’s straight to exercising. It’s straight to dance classes,” she continues. “When the baby come[s] out, my body will be loose and straight rehearsals with all my dancers. I’m not playing.”
Cardi B’s new album, “Am I The Drama?” is out now on digital, streaming, and physical copies, with a selection of cover art available on the artist’s website. The album features 23 tracks with collaborations from Selena Gomez and Janet Jackson, to name a few—album review to follow, so far, so good.
