Track and field star Sha’Carri Richardson is known for sporting long, manicured nails while leaving her opponents in the dust. Richardson, a first-time Olympian, competed in the Women’s 100-meter run. Her athleticism and charm have propelled her into the spotlight as a headline-making ‘Baddie’ in the American track and field scene.
One of her biggest fans, Adele (the multi-Grammy winner known for “Rolling in The Deep”), paused her show in Munich to watch Richardson take home the Silver Medal.
Richards’ Olympic journey was fraught with controversy. After qualifying in 2001, she was barred from competing in the Tokyo Olympics after testing positive for THC, cannabis. Still, she proved her critics wrong. The last time a female USA athlete medaled in the 100m race was in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, and it went to Tori Bowie. The last Woman to win gold for the USA was in the 1996 games in Sydney, won by Gail Devers.
