New Single w/ Daymé Arocena, “Zig Zag” out now.
February 18th marks the first date and stop of Sofía Rei’s European tour alongside Daymé Arocena, the Grammy-nominated singer, composer, and “true innovator of Afro-Cuban soul,” as Rei stated in the tour announcement, citing excitement. The tour kicks off in Berlin, Germany, at the Zig Zag Jazz Club tonight.
The new single with Daymé Arocena will feature on Sofía Rei’s upcoming album Antónima, to be released via GroundUP Records.
The accompanying music video for “Zig Zag” features beautiful, colorful, and artistic imagery by the artist Carolina Niño Buro. In speaking about the creation of the song, she stated, “We wrote Zig Zag together in a small hotel room in Miami, and somewhere between ideas and laughter, the song revealed itself as a reflection on the push and pull of a modern relationship — distance, miscommunication, and the longing for real connection.” She concluded, “I’m deeply grateful for this moment, this music, and this beautiful meeting of worlds.”
