Today, we mourn the loss of Mexican legend Vicente Fernandez who passed away early this morning at the age of 81. Earlier this year the Ranchero legend suffered a fall at his ranch and was in and out of the care of hospitals. His death is mourned by musicians, music lovers, his loved ones, and especially the people of Mexico.
For me, he was more than just an iconic Mexican ranchero figure he was the father of an artist I truly love and have followed around the U.S. from the moment I was old enough to travel on my own, Alejandro Fernandez. If you know me, you know my love for Alejandro and Mexican music runs deep. Losing Chente, his father, is a big blow to the Latino community. I send my sincere condolences to Alejandro and the entire Fernandez family.
