A sea of cellphones illuminated the Garden as the curtain with Marc Anthony’s face titled Legacy shone with bright lights as the musicians made their way to the stage. Snippets of his hits played in the background teasing what was to come. The fans were on their feet awaiting their salsa king and hometown hero.

He opened the show with a Hector Lavoe cover “Aguanile” which became a Marc Anthony hit in its own right after his starring role in the movie “El Cantante.” Then Marc proceeded to crank out the biggest hits of his career which were many. He was full of energy and danced jubilantly to each beat. Couples could be seen dancing in the aisles and Marc encouraged the fans to “get up it’s a salsa concert!” Without missing a beat the few that were politely swaying in their seats left their inhibitions behind and busted out their best moves.

Saving his biggest hits for last “Tu Amor Me Hace Bien,” and “Vivir Mi vida” deafening cheers filled the Madison Square Garden arena.

I’ve been fortunate enough to attend numerous Marc Anthony concerts and each one is better than the last. The energy is incomparable and his delivery makes every song better than the next.
